Emily and Alexander travel to Canada to meet with their cousin Ned. Ned is the friend of little Danny, who has inherited a claim in the mountains with his parents. However, the claim card is stolen from them by the wanted crook Soapy Smith. Ned is also looking for a treasure that he inherited from his great-granduncle. The treasure map is stolen from him by Notail Nogoodnik, who secretly uses Soapy Smith as a ride. Emily, Alexander and Danny track the two scamps into the mountains. They get help from a bear to whom they have returned their missing cub.
