Berlin, Prenzlauer Berg 1989: The everyday life of Angelika Wettstein, single mother of six children, full-time cashier at the Pappelallee department store, around the corner from Stargarder Straße. Short distances and the cooperation of the older children make it possible. The family's life is not easy, but the fun-loving Angelika Wettstein manages to create little highlights for the children and herself in an everyday life where money is always tight. She does not let on the enormous effort that this way of life must have meant for Angelika Wettstein.
